1、 According to the number of microelectronic devices integrated on a chip, integrated circuits can be divided into the following categories:
Small Scale Integration (SSI) has less than 10 logic gates or 100 transistors.
Medium Scale Integration (MSI) has 11 to 100 logic gates or 101 to 1k transistors.
Large Scale Integration (LSI) has 101-1k logic gates or 1001-10k transistors.
Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) has 1001-10k logic gates or 10001-100k transistors.
Ultra Large Scale Integration (ULSI) has 10001-1M logic gates or 100001-10M transistors.
GLSI (Giga Scale Integration) has more than 1000001 logic gates or more than 10000001 transistors.
2、 Classification by functional structure: Integrated circuits can be divided into two categories based on their different functions and structures: analog integrated circuits and digital integrated circuits.
3、 Classified by production process: Integrated circuits can be divided into single chip integrated circuits and hybrid integrated circuits according to production process, while hybrid integrated circuits can be divided into thick film integrated circuits and thin film integrated circuits.
4、 Classified by different conductive types: Integrated circuits can be divided into bipolar integrated circuits and unipolar integrated circuits based on conductive types. The manufacturing process of bipolar integrated circuits is complex, with high power consumption. Representative integrated circuits include TTL, ECL, HTL, LST-TL, STTL, and other types. The manufacturing process of unipolar integrated circuits is simple, and the power consumption is also low, making it easy to make large-scale integrated circuits. Representative integrated circuits include CMOS, NMOS, PMOS, and other types.
5、 Classified by purpose: Integrated circuits can be divided into television integrated circuits, audio integrated circuits, DVD player integrated circuits, video recorder integrated circuits, computer (microcomputer) integrated circuits, electronic keyboard integrated circuits, communication integrated circuits, camera integrated circuits, remote control integrated circuits, language integrated circuits, alarm integrated circuits, and various specialized integrated circuits.
